19.  Using the rm command: When used without any option the rm command deletes the file or directory ( option -rf) without any warning. A simple mistake like rm / somedir instead of rm /somedir can cause major chaos and delete the entire content of the /(root) directory. Hence it is always advisable to use rm command with the -i(which prompts before removal) option. Also there is no undelete option in Linux.
20.  Copying hidden files: cp .* (copies hidden files only to a new destination)
21. dpkg -l : To get a list of all the installed packages.
23. Use of ‘ > ‘ and ‘ >> ‘ : The ‘ > ‘ symbol ( input redirector sign) can be used to add content to a file when used with the cat command. Whereas ‘ >> ‘ can be used to append to a file. If the ‘ >> ‘ symbol is not used and content is added to a file using only the ‘>’ symbol the previous content of the file is deleted and replaced with the new content.

37.  To extract a no. of lines from a file:

38.  Any changes to a file might cause loss of important data unknowingly. Hence    Linux creates a file with the same name followed by ~ (Tilde) sign without the recent changes. This comes in really handy when playing with the configuration files as some sort of a backup is created.
39.   A variable can be defined with an ‘=’ operator. Now a long block of text can be assigned to the variable and brought into use repeatedly by just typing the variable name preceded by a $ sign instead of writing the whole chunk of text again and again.

ভাইরাস ঠেকাতে - প্রথম আলোদৈনন্দিন জীবনের প্রায় প্রতিটি ক্ষেত্রেই এখন কম্পিউটার ব্যবহার করা হচ্ছে। শিক্ষা, গবেষণা, চিকিৎসা , ব্যবসা-বাণিজ্য, অফিস ব্যবস্থাপনার মতো সব কাজেরই একটি অবিচ্ছিন্ন অংশ কম্পিউটার। এর বাইরেও ঘরোয়া ব্যবহারকারীর সংখ্যাটা অনেক বেশি। কম্পিউটারগুলোতে ব্যবহার করা হয়ে থাকে বিভিন্ন ধরনের সফটওয়্যার। আছেইন্টারনেটের ব্যবহার।কম্পিউটারের ব্যবহার বাড়ার সঙ্গে সঙ্গে এতে ক্ষতিকর প্রোগ্রাম অর্থাৎ কম্পিউটার ভাইরাস বা ওয়ার্মের আক্রমণও বেড়ে গেছে।এই ভাইরাসের আক্রমণ ঠেকাতে অ্যান্টি ভাইরাস সফটওয়্যারের ব্যবহার প্রতিটি কম্পিউটারেই অনিবার্য। এমনিতে আমাদের দেশে সফটওয়্যার কিনে ব্যবহার করার প্রবণতা বেশ কমই দেখা যায়।কিন্তু বেশির ভাগ ব্যবহারকারীই অ্যান্টি ভাইরাস কিনছেন নিরাপদ থাকার জন্য।অ্যান্টি ভাইরাস কম্পিউটারের একটি বিশেষ ধরনের সফটওয়্যার, যা কম্পিউটার ভাইরাস, কম্পিউটার ওয়ার্ম, ট্রোজান হর্স, স্পাইওয়্যার, অ্যাডওয়্যার জাতীয় প্রোগ্রামগুলোর ক্ষতিকর আক্রমণকে ঠেকিয়ে দেয়।এ রকম প্রতিটি ক্ষতিকর সফটওয়্যারের জন্য আলাদা নিরাপত্তা সফটওয়্যার ব্যবহার করা যায়। আবার এমন কিছু সফটওয়্যার রয়েছে, যেগুলো একইসঙ্গে নানা ধরনের ক্ষতিকর সফটওয়্যার থেকে কম্পিউটারকে নিরাপত্তা দেয়। নরটন, ক্যাস্পারস্কি, ইসেট, এভিরা বিট ডিফেন্ডারের মতো বিশ্বের প্রায় সব অ্যান্টি ভাইরাস সফটওয়্যারই এখন বাংলাদেশে পাওয়া যায়। নির্দিষ্ট পরিবেশকের মাধ্যমে বিতরণ করা হয় বলে বর্তমানে সফটওয়্যারের বৈধ সংস্করণটি কিনে ব্যবহার করা যায়। পাশাপাশি সীমিত সুবিধার কিছু অ্যান্টি ভাইরাস রয়েছে যেগুলো ইন্টারনেট থেকে বিনা মূল্যে নামিয়ে ব্যবহার করা যায়। আবার প্রতিটি এন্টারপ্রাইজ অ্যান্টি ভাইরাস সফটওয়্যারই স্বল্প সময়ের জন্য বিনা মূল্যে ব্যবহারের সুযোগ পান গ্রাহকেরা। তবে বিনা মূল্যের সংস্করণের সঙ্গে এন্টারপ্রাইজ সংস্করণগুলোর মধ্যে বৈশিষ্ট্যগত বেশ কিছু পার্থক্য রয়েছে। আর প্রতিটি এন্টারপ্রাইজ অ্যান্টি-ভাইরাসেই বাড়তি কিছু সুবিধা পাওয়া যায়।অ্যান্টি ভাইরাস নিয়ে ব্যবহারকারীদের কাছ থেকে একটি অভিযোগ প্রায়ই শোনা যায়, তারা সফটওয়্যারটির বৈধ কপি ব্যবহার করছে, তারপরও কম্পিউটার ভাইরাসে আক্রান্ত হচ্ছে।এ ধরনের সমস্যা এড়াতে বেশ কিছু উপায় জানালেন নরটন অ্যান্টি ভাইরাসের পরিবেশক কম্পিউটার সোর্সলিমিটেডের পরিচালক আসিফ মাহমুদ। তিনি বললেন, অ্যান্টি ভাইরাস সফটওয়্যারগুলো ক্ষতিকর প্রোগ্রাম চিহ্নিত করে ভাইরাস ডেফিনেশনের ভিত্তিতে।ইন্টারনেটের মাধ্যমে বিনা মূল্যে এই ভাইরাস ডেফিনেশন হালনাগাদ (আপডেট) করা যায়। নরটনসহ বর্তমানে প্রায় সব অ্যান্টি ভাইরাসই স্বয়ংক্রিয়ভাবে নিয়মিত এটি হালনাগাদ করে। কিন্তু কোনো ব্যবহারকারী যদি ইন্টারনেটে যুক্ত না থাকে, অথবা স্বয়ংক্রিয় ব্যবস্থা বন্ধ করে রাখে, তবে ডেফিনেশন তালিকা হালনাগাদ হবে না। ফলে খুব সাম্প্রতিক সময়ে তৈরি করা কোনো ভাইরাস এটি চিহ্নিত নাও করতে পারে। আবার কোনো কোনো অ্যান্টি ভাইরাস সিস্টেম ফাইল হিসেবে চিহ্নিত অ্যান্টি ভাইরাসগুলো মুছে ফেলার আগে ব্যবহারকারীকে জিজ্ঞাসা করে। তখন যদি এগুলো মুছে ফেলা না হয়, তবে পরে তা কম্পিউটারের ক্ষতি করতে পারে। কোনো কোনো অ্যান্টি ভাইরাস এন্টারপ্রাইজ সংস্করণের মতো নিয়মিত ডেফিনেশন তালিকা হালনাগাদ করে না, এটিও ভাইরাসে আক্রান্ত হওয়ার অন্যতম কারণ।কিছু অ্যান্টিভাইরাস সফটওয়্যার রয়েছে যেগুলো ইন্টারনেট থেকে বিনা মূল্যে ব্যবহার করা যায়। এন্টারপ্রাইজ এবং বিনা মূল্যের অ্যান্টি ভাইরাস নিয়ে কথা বললেন ইসেটের বাজারজাতকারীপ্রতিষ্ঠান ডেমন সিস্টেমসের পরিচালক সাহেদ ইকবাল। তিনি জানান, বিনা মূল্যের সংস্করণে সীমিত আকারে কিছু সুবিধা পাওয়া যায়। অপরদিকে এন্টারপ্রাইজ সংস্করণ ভাইরাস, স্পাইওয়্যার, ট্রোজানের মতো সব ক্ষতিকর প্রোগ্রামকে ঠেকাতে পারে।ওয়েব ব্রাউজার, ই-মেইল ক্লায়েন্ট ও মেসেঞ্জারের মতো সফটওয়্যার সব সময়ই ইন্টানেটে যুক্ত থাকছে। তাই এসব সফটওয়্যারের মাধ্যমে যেন কম্পিউটারে কোনো ক্ষতিকর প্রোগ্রাম ঢুকতে না পারে সে বিষয়টি নিশ্চিত করা হয় এন্টারপ্রাইজ সংস্করণে।বর্তমানে ইন্টারনেট ব্যবহারকারীদের সংখ্যা প্রতিনিয়ত বাড়ছে এবং স্বাভাবিকভাবেই ইন্টারনেটের মাধ্যমে ভাইরাস ছড়াচ্ছে ব্যবহারকারীদের কম্পিউটারে। পরিবেশকদের মতে, অ্যান্টি ভাইরাস সফটওয়্যারের ইন্টারনেট সিকিউরিটি এবং অনলাইন ব্যাংকিংয়ে নিরাপত্তা প্যাকেজগুলো সব ক্ষেত্রেই পাওয়া যায় এন্টারপ্রাইজ সংস্করণে।বাংলাদেশে ক্যাস্পারস্কি অ্যান্টি-ভাইরাসের পরিবেশক অফিস এক্সট্রাক্টের প্রধান নির্বাহী কর্মকর্তা প্রবীর সরকার বলেন, মান ধরে রেখেএবং বিক্রয়োত্তর সেবার মাধ্যমে যে দেশে সফলভাবে আসলসফটওয়্যারের ব্যবসা করা যায়, ক্যাস্পারস্কি তা প্রমাণ করেছে। এখন ব্যক্তিগত ও প্রাতিষ্ঠানিক দুই পর্যায়েই গ্রাহকেরা আসলঅ্যান্টি ভাইরাস সফটওয়্যার ব্যবহার করছে। তিনি জানান, অফিস এক্সট্রাক্ট বাংলাদেশ ও ভুটানে ক্যাস্পারস্কি অ্যান্টি ভাইরাস পরিবেশন করে থাকে।পাইরেটেড ও আসলসফটওয়্যারের মানে অনেক পার্থক্য থাকে।এ ছাড়া বিক্রয়োত্তর সেবার কোনো অংশই ভোগ করতে পারে না একজন পাইরেটেড সফটওয়্যার ব্যবহারকারী। ফলে অনেক ক্ষেত্রেই নিরাপত্তা প্যাঁচসহ অন্যান্য হালনাগাদ থেকেও বঞ্চিত হতে হয়। তুলনামূলক নতুন যাত্রা শুরু করেছে অ্যাভিরা ও বিটডিফেন্ডার অ্যান্টি ভাইরাস। এগুলোও এখন দেশের বাজারে বিক্রি হচ্ছে।বাজারে পাওয়া যায় এমন প্রতিটি অ্যান্টি-ভাইরাসেরই ব্যক্তিগত ব্যবহারকারী অথবা প্রতিষ্ঠানের জন্য বিশেষ প্যাকেজ রয়েছে।নরটন, ইসেট, ক্যাস্পরস্কিসহ বিভিন্ন অ্যান্টি ভাইরাস কোনো প্রতিষ্ঠানের জন্য পূর্ণ নিরাপত্তা সমাধান দেয়। আবার একাধিক ব্যবহারকারীর জন্য ‘গুচ্ছ’ হিসেবেও কেনার সুযোগ রয়েছে এবং সে ক্ষেত্রে কিছুটা সাশ্রয়ী মূল্যে পাওয়া যাবে অ্যান্টি ভাইরাসগুলো। পরিবেশক, পুনর্বিক্রেতাসহ কম্পিউটারের প্রায় সব বিক্রেতার কাছেই অ্যান্টি ভাইরাস সফটওয়্যার পাওয়া যায়।বিনা মূল্যের অ্যান্টি ভাইরাসমাইক্রোসফট উইন্ডোজে অনেক আগে থেকেই মাইক্রোসফট সিকিউরিটি অ্যাসেনশিয়াল নামে বিনা মূল্যে একটি নিরাপত্তা হালানাগাদ সংগ্রহ করা যেত। এখন মাইক্রোসফট সিকিউরিটি অ্যাসেনশিয়াল নামের অ্যান্টি ভাইরাস বিনা মূল্যে বিতরণ করা হচ্ছে।স্বয়ংক্রিয়ভাবে কম্পিউটার স্ক্যান করা নিয়মিত ডেফিনেশন ডেটাবেজ হালনাগাদ করা হয়ে থাকে। বিনা মূল্যে সংগ্রহের ঠিকানা—www.microsoft.com/en-gb/security_essentialsবিনা মূল্যের অ্যান্টি ভাইরাসগুলোর মধ্যে অ্যাভাস্ট (www.avast.com/free-antivirus-download) বেশ জনপ্রিয়। যদিও একই সঙ্গে এর এন্টারপ্রাইজ সংস্করণ রয়েছে। স্বাভাবিক নিয়মেই বিনা মূল্যের সংস্করণে কিছুটা কম সুবিধা পাওয়া যায়। বিশেষত, ইন্টারনেট সিকিউরিটি পূর্ণাঙ্গভাবে ব্যবহার করা যাবে কেবল এন্টারপ্রাইজ সংস্করণে।বাজারে এখন যা আছেনরটন: নরটনের সর্বশেষ সংস্করণ নরটন অ্যান্টি ভাইরাস ২০১২ ও নরটন অ্যান্টি ভাইরাস ইন্টারনেট সিকিউরিটি ২০১২। ব্যক্তিগতভাবে এক, তিন বা পাঁচজনের জন্য কেনা যাবে এই সফটওয়্যার। এ ছাড়া করপোরেট ব্যবহারকারীদের জন্য আলাদা প্যাকেজ রয়েছে। অনেক ক্ষেত্রে ভাইরাস কম্পিউটারের বুট সেক্টরের ক্ষতি করে থাকে। তাই নরটন অ্যান্টি-ভাইরাসের ইনস্টলার সিডিগুলো কম্পিউটার চালু করার (বুটেবল) উপযোগী করে তৈরি হয়েছে। অর্থাৎ বুট সেক্টর ক্ষতিগ্রস্ত হলে এই সিডি দিয়ে কম্পিউটার চালু করা হলে সেটি কম্পিউটার চালুর Richard Matthew Stallman (born March 16, 1953), often shortened to rms,[2] is an American software freedom activist and computer programmer. In September 1983, he launched the GNU Project[3] to create a free Unix-like operating system, and he has been the project's lead architect and organizer. Definition of OOP:

OOP uses objects as its fundamental building blocks. Each object is an instance of some class. Classes allow the mechanism of data abstraction for creating new data types. Inheritance allows building of new classes from existing classes. Hence if any of these elements are missing in a program we cannot consider that program as objected oriented program. Object-oriented programming is a programming methodology that associates data structures with a set of operators which act upon it. In OOP’s terminology an instance of such an entity is known as an object. It gives importance to relationships between objects rather than implementation details. Hiding the implementation details within an object results in the user being more concerned with an objects relationship to the rest of the system, than the implementation of the object’s behavior.
